Port of Kaohsiung

Port of Kaohsiung is located on the southwest side of Taiwan and it is in the center of all major sailing courses for cargo vessels to Europe, Southeast Asia and North America through Taiwan Strait and Bashi Channel. With this geographical importance, port of Kaohsiung is the largest port in Taiwan for cargo imports/exports and distribution. Port of Kaohsiung has two entrances. The first entrance is located on 120°15'25"E, 22°37'01"N and the second entrance is on 120°18'26"E,22°33'21"N。

Port of Taichung

Port of Taichung currently has 50 wharfs with automatic discharging machinery and it is the second largest port for international trades in Taiwan. Port of Taichung is currently expanding its cargo and industrial harbor areas in accordance with the trends of international sea shipping and logistics. The goal is to expand the port of Taichung to become a port for international trades with total 78 available wharfs.

Port of Keelung

Port of Keelung is in a shape of funnel which the northern harbor area is wider than southern area. The location of the port is at 25°09’30”N,121°45’13.2”E. The port’s anchorage area is divided into three sections and the wharfs are divided into east and west portions. The west portion of the wharfs carries the major volume of all cargoes in port of Keelung. The wharfs in Keelung mainly are used for cargo, fishery and military purposes.

Port of Suao

Port of Suao has 13 wharfs and draft depth is between 7.5 – 15 m. The length of the wharfs is from 125m to 300m and some of the wharfs are capable for Panama size vessel to berth. The main imported cargoes are coal, fuel oil, p-xylene, mill scales and steel coils. For export, the main cargoes are cement and potassium sulfate. Usually when discharging at port of Keelung, the custom clearance of the cargo can be completed by the shipside so the cargo can be delivered to its destination right away after discharging. With increasing business at port of Keelung, it is gradually becoming one of the most important port for international trades in Taiwan.

Port of Hualien

Port of Hualien is one of the main ports for international trades in Taiwan. This port currently has 25 wharfs and the volume of cargo loaded and discharged can be as high as 34 million tons yearly. Port of Hualien has sufficient amount of warehouses, detention areas, cargo containers storage areas and habour facilities to undertake all import/export cargo operational needs for the business development of Taiwan east coast.
